Swimmers Sweep Juniata
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's swimming teams swept Juniata College at the von Borries Aquatic Center Saturday afternoon. The Gopher men posted a 91-48 win over the Eagles, while the Goucher women prevailed 142-88.
For the men, sophomore Ben Graff finished first in three events. He took home first in the 50 backstroke (27.98 seconds), the 50 freestyle (24.70) and the 50 butterfly (25.48).
Christian Houck placed first in the 50 breaststroke with a mark of 36.87 seconds, while James Piland placed first in the 100 butterfly (1:03.22).
The men's 200 medley relay team of Graff, Houck, Piland and Noah Moudarres posted a time of 2:18.34. The 200 freestyle relay of Piland, Moudarres, Jack Buckley and Houck came in with a time of 2:18.63.
For the women, Darcy McFarland and Ella Robinson each finished first in a pair of events. McFarland took home first in the 100 backstroke (1:08.00) and the 50 butterfly (29.78).
Robinson placed in the top spot in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.68) and the 100 IM (1:08.63). Olivia Reichardt finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:08.76).
The women's 200 medley team of McFarland, Emily Strickland, Reichardt and Avery McEachern placed first with a time of 2:11.40. The 200 freestyle relay of McEachern, Alana Moore, Reichardt and Robinson was victorious with a time of 1:54.96.
The Goucher swim teams return to action Friday night when they travel to Immaculata for a tri-meet with the Mighty Macs and Elizabethtown at 5 pm. The Gophers are back home Saturday, November 4 at 1 pm against Wilkes.
