Track and Field’s Stella Chock and Men’s Basketball’s Ryan Conde Named Scholar Athletes of the Week
Each week in the fall semester, Goucher Athletics names two Scholar-Athletes of the Week for their hard work and achievements in the classroom. This week's features are women's track and field sophomore Stella Chock (York, Pa. / York Suburban) and men's basketball sophomore Ryan Conde (Ewing, N.J. / Solebury School).
Chock, a biology chemistry major, holds a 3.92 GPA. The York native competed in two events in the 2020 track and field season before it got cut short due to the pandemic. On February 8, 2020, Chock ran in the Alvernia University Plex Shootout in Reading, Pennsylvania. She ran in the 60-meter event and got 50th with her time of 9.82. The next week, Chock pole vaulted in the Fourth Annual Larry Sharpe Memorial in Hagerstown, Maryland. On Sunday, February 16, the sophomore placed third in the pole vault by reaching the 2.28-meter mark.
Conde, a communication and media major, boasts a 3.50 GPA. As a freshman, Conde played at Arcadia University before transferring to Goucher in the 2020 spring semester. The forward made his debut for the gophers on January 25 against Moravian and scored nine points. For the rest of the season, Conde appeared in nine games, including four starts, and averaged 7.7 points per game. The Ewing native recorded two 10+ point games that included the game against Elizabethtown on February 12, where he scored a career-high 14 points.
