Gophers Post Several Strong Performances at Shootout at the Plex
READING, Pa. - The Goucher women's and men's indoor track and field teams competed at the Shootout at the Plex hosted by Alvernia University on Saturday.
Kiri Alston-Buck (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) posted a pair of sixth place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles and the high jump. In the hurdles, she posted a time of 10.30 seconds after recording a season-best 10.18 in the preliminaries, improving by nearly a second. In the high jump Alston-Buck had a mark of 1.50 meters.
The women's 4x200 relay team placed fourth with a time of 1:51.79, less than a second behind second place and 2.39 seconds behind the first-place Lebanon Valley team. The relay consisted of Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa./Northeastern), Tee Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll), Emma Kistner (Woodlawn, Md./Mount de Sales) and Anise Williams (West Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School).
Ruiz placed 12th in the 60-meter dash preliminaries with a personal-best 8.33-second effort. Williams was 17th with a time of 8.44 seconds.
For the men, Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) placed 15th out of 47 in the 800 with a time of 2:05.85.
Goucher returns to action next Saturday, February 12, when it travels to the Susquehanna Invitational at Susquehanna University.
