Four Gophers Post School Records at Susquehanna
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Goucher College women's track and field team had four athletes post school record marks as the Gophers competed at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday.
Sophomore Tee Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) finished third in the 200 with a program record 26.76 second time. Thet effort is currently the third-best time in the Landmark Conference. She also finished seventh in the 60-meter prelims, narrowly missing the six-athlete final with a personal-best 8.13 second effort.
Freshman Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) set the school record in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.29 meters. Hinton-Ayodele, who set the program record in the triple jump earlier this season, owns the current top mark in the conference.
Sophomore Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) and freshman Kiri Alston-Buck (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) both matched Alston-Buck's program-record 1.52-meter mark in the high jump on Saturday to place sixth overall. They are tied for the No. 5 mark in the Landmark.
Freshman Emma Kistner (Woodlawn, Md./Mount de Sales) placed 15th out of 57 in the women's 400 with a time of 1:04.77. Classmate Sophie O'Connor (Shorewood, Wisc./Shorewood) was second in their 800-meter heat and posted a time of 2:38.32.
For the men, sophomore Ayo Ajiborode (Parkville, Md./Parkville) placed eighth in the 60-meter prelims with a time of 7.29 seconds. Classmate Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) placed eighth in the 400 with a time of 53.74 seconds.
The Goucher track and field teams return to Susquehanna next Friday for the Susquehanna Tune-Up, the final meet before the Landmark Conference Championship, which also takes place at Susquehanna, on February 26.
