Whitfield Sets Men's 800 Record at Susquehanna Tuneup
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Goucher College men's indoor track and field sophomore Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) placed third in the 800-meter run with a school-record time of 2:01.82 Friday at the Susquehanna Tuneup. He bettered his personal best (2:05.85) by just over four seconds.
Senior Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 12.30 meters.
For the women, Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) won the triple jump after recording a jump of 11.64 meters on their fourth jump of the day, coming after an 11.55 on the third jump. The mark is just 0.02 off Hinton-Ayodele's school record set earlier this season.
Freshman Kiri Alston-Buck (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.10 seconds in the final. She also placed seventh in the high jump (1.48 meters) and won her heat in the 200 with a time of 29.98 seconds.
Sophomore Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) placed fifth in the high jump, also recording a 1.48-meter effort.
Sophomore Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) placed ninth in the long jump (4.13 meters) and eighth in the triple jump (9.75 meters).
Freshman Emma Kistner (Woodlawn, Md./Mount de Sales) finished ninth in the 400 with a time of 1:05.48.
Sophomore Kya Taylor (Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie) was 10th in the shot put with a toss of 9.58 meters.
Goucher returns to Susquehanna next Saturday to compete in the 2022 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
