Gophers Open Towson Tiger Invitational Friday
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had several members in competition on day one of the Towson Tiger Invitational at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Friday.
In the women's 100 meter dash, Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa./Northeastern) ran a 13.14, bettering her personal best set last week by 0.36 seconds. Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) posted a time of 13.31, bettering her collegiate best by 0.31 seconds.
Gabriel also led Goucher in the triple jump with a mark of 9.83 meters. Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) posted a mark of 9.60 meters.
In the women's 1500, Sophie O'Connor (Shorewood, Wisc./Shorewood) ran a 5:37.27, improving their time from last week's season opener by over 21 seconds.
Kya Taylor (Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie) registered a mark of 22.91 meters in the women's hammer throw, while Lydia Bailey (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) had a 22.35 meter toss.
In the men's 100 meter dash, Mustafa Honeyblue (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) ran an 11.25 to better his time from last week by 0.09 seconds. Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) had a hammer throw mark of 27.75 meters.
The second day of the Towson Tiger Invitational kicks off at Johnny Unitas Stadium Saturday at 11 am.
