Gophers Compete at Hopkins/Loyola Invitational Saturday
BALTIMORE - The Goucher College men's and women's track and field teams competed at Saturday's Hopkins/Loyola Invitational at the Hopkins/Loyola Track Complex on Saturday.
In the women's triple jump, Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) posted a outdoor season-best of 11.39 meters to place sixth. That mark moves Hinton-Ayodele into No. 31 nationally.
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) finished third in the women's high jump with a personal-best 1.55-meter effort. In the women's shot put Kya Taylor (Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie) was ninth with a toss of 9.57 meters.
Lydia Bailey (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) placed eighth in the javelin throw with a personal-best 24.51-meter throw. She also had a personal best in the hammer throw of 29.65 meters, besting her previous best by over five meters. Ava Cox (Elkton, Md./Elkton) was 11th in the javelin (18.43 meters) and also had a personal-best in the hammer (28.51 meters), improving by nearly seven meters.
On the men's side, Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) was sixth in the shot put with a personal-best (13.44 meters). He also recorded a 36.69 meter discus throw.
Mustafa Honeyblue (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) was 14th out of 51 in the 200 with a time of 22.66 seconds and 13th out of 44 in the 400 with a time of 51.41 seconds. His time in the 400 was a personal-best.
Goucher is set to return to action at the Landmark Conference Championship May 7 and 8 at Juniata College.
