Women's 4x100 Highlights Gophers' Performance at Blue Jay Tune Up
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Goucher College women's 4x100 relay team recorded a first-place finish as the Gophers had select athletes compete at the Blue Jay Tune Up hosted by Elizabethtown College on Saturday.
The 4x100 relay squad finished first with a time of 50.08 seconds, barely off its top time of 50.05 seconds this season. The winning squad consisted of Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles), Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll), Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa./Northeastern).
Gabriel also placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 9.66 meters.
Juaniece Blackmon (Norfolk, Va./Portsmouth) qualified for the women's 100 meter final after running a time of 13.72 seconds in the prelims. She placed eighth in the final with a time of 13.86.
Emma Kistner (Woodlawn, Md./Mount de Sales) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.46. In the 800 Sophie O'Connor (Shorewood, Wisc./Shorewood) ran a personal-best 2:36.64.
For the men, Mustafa Honeyblue (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) finished sixth in the 100-meter final with a time of 11.34 seconds. He ran an 11.43 in the prelims.
Shawn Pelote (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) improved his personal-best 400 time by over two seconds, running a 54.05.
Goucher is back in action next Saturday and Sunday at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Juniata.
