TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams are set to compete at the 2022 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend hosted by Juniata College. Action gets underway at 1 pm on Saturday and at 11 am on Sunday.
The Gopher women have eight athletes ranked in the top-10 of the conference in their respective events, led by sophomore Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) and first year Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie).
Bakare, who earned Second Team All-Conference honors in the 60-meter dash at the Landmark indoor championship in February, sits No. 4 in the conference in the 200 (26.24 seconds), fifth in the 100 (12.74) and 10th in the 400 (1:02.41). Hinton-Ayodele, the Field Performer and Rookie of the Meet at the indoor championship, currently sits second in the conference in both the long jump (5.17 meters) and the triple jump (11.39).
The Goucher 4x100 relay squad posted the third-best mark in the conference during the season, running a season-best 50.05 at Goucher's Blue and Gold Classic in April. That relay consisted of Bakare, Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles), Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa./Northeastern) and Anise Williams (West Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School).
Kiri Alston-Buck (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace) owns the No. 3 mark in the women's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.15 seconds. She is also No. 6 in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters.
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) sits fifth in the high jump with a 1.55-meter leap, and also has the conference's No. 6 mark in the long jump (4.96). Gabriel and Jordan Dumas (Elkridge, Md./Oakland Mills) sit fourth and fifth in the triple jump with marks of 10.53 and 10.19 meters, respectively.
Emma Kistner (Woodlawn, Md./Mount de Sales) is fourth in the Landmark in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.46 set at last weekend's Blue Jay Tune Up.
