Hinton-Ayodele Has No. 8 Triple Jump Mark, Gophers Take Six Firsts at LVC Dutchmen Indoor Meet
ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Goucher College indoor track and field teams recorded a total of six first place finishes as they resumed their season at the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen Indoor Meet at the Arnold Sports Center Friday evening.
In the women's triple jump, Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was first with a mark of 11.39 meters. Hinton-Ayodele's mark is currently No. 8 in Division III.
In the men's 400-meter dash, Mustafa Honeyblue (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) took first with a time of 53.83 seconds. The Gophers took three of the top four spots, with Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) coming in second with a 54.55 second effort, while Deonte Lewis (Fort Washington, Md./Crossland) coming in fourth at 55.79 seconds.
The men's 4x400 relay of Whitfield, Honeyblue, Lewis and Zyad Yousof (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) came in second with a time of 3:41.24. Yousof came in third in the 800 with a time of 2:10.56.
Joshua Stevenson (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) came in fourth after reaching the finals in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.75 seconds.
Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) finished first in the women's 55-meter dash finals with a time of 7.61 seconds. Bakare qualified for the final with a 7.54 second effort. Hinton-Ayodele also qualified for the 55-meter final with a time of 8.13 seconds but did not compete.
Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md. / Cheverly STEM Education Center) took home first in the women's 400 with a time of 1:04.00. Summer James (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was fifth with a time of 1:10.27.
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) took first in the long jump with a leap of 5.04 meters. Jordan Dumas (Elkridge, Md./Oakland Mills) was third in the triple jump at 9.15 meters.
Emma Kistner (Woodlawn, Md./Mount de Sales) placed first in the 800 at 3:03.63.
Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) competed in the women's pentathlon and placed third with 1,941 points. She placed second in the long jump with a 4.40 meter jump.
Goucher is back in action next Saturday, January 21, when it competes at the Cardinal Track and Field Classic at the Prince George's County Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland.
