Thornton-Fillyaw Bests Own 800 Program Record at BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational
BOSTON - Goucher College women's indoor track and field first year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) bested her own program record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.54 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday.
Thornton-Fillyaw, who set the program record (2:25.45) in the event January 21 earlier this season, bettered her own mark by nearly eight seconds. She placed 129th overall in a field of 248 and was No. 10 among Division III runners. Her time is the fastest in the Landmark Conference this season and the fastest in the conference since 2020.
Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) ran a time of 26.84 seconds in the 200-meter dash, just 0.08 seconds off her program record in the event set last season. That time is fourth-fastest in the conference this season. She also ran the 400 in a time of 1:01.42.
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) posted marks of 4.95 meters in the long jump and 1.51 meters in the high jump. Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) recorded a 10.74-meter jump in the triple jump and ran a 10.35 in the 60-meter hurdles.
