Bakare, Hinton-Ayodele Take First Place Finishes at Susquehanna Tune-Up
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) took first in the women's 60-meter dash and Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was first in the women's triple jump as the Goucher College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Susquehanna Tune-Up at the SU Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Bakare ran the third-fastest time in the preliminaries with a time of 8.23 seconds. In the final she took first with a time of 8.13 seconds, her fastest of the season. Bakare also placed second in the 200 with a 27.31-second effort.
Hinton-Ayodele took down first in the triple jump with a jump of 11.29 meters.
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) placed third in the long jump with a leap of 5.10 meters. She also placed seventh in the high jump, checking in at 1.42 meters.
For the men, Willensky Joseph (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) finished 10th out of 53 in the 200 with a time of 24.14 seconds. Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) ran a 2:06.00 in the 800 to place 20th out of 55 runners.
Joshua Stevenson (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) placed 11th in the men's 60 prelims with a time of 7.41 seconds. He also ran a 24.47 in the 200 to come in 16th.
Goucher returns to Susquehanna next Saturday for the 2023 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
