Gophers Prepare for Landmark Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's indoor track and field teams will compete at the 2023 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, February 25 at the Susquehanna University Field House. The event gets underway at xx am.

The Goucher women enter Saturday's meet with a total of 15 performances placing them within the top 10 of the conference this season. The Gopher women are ranked No. 9 in the most recent USTFCCCA regional ranking index and have been as high as No. 7 this winter.
Sophomore Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) is the reigning Landmark indoor Rookie of the Meet as well as Field Performer of the Meet after taking first in both the triple jump and long jump last season. He owns the top performance in the triple jump thus far this season (11.39 meters), while Hinton-Ayodele's long jump performance ranks No. 6 in the conference (5.05 meters). Hinton-Ayodele also has the No. 7 time in the 60-meter hurdles (10.20 seconds).
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) sits third in both the women's high jump (1.57 meters) and long jump (5.25 meters). Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) owns the No. 5 mark in the conference in the triple jump (10.41 meters). In throws, Sarah Roth (Canton, Ohio / Massillon Jackson) sits No. 5 in the weight throw (12.89 meters) and No. 10 in the shot put (10.24 meters).
Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) owns three top marks, sitting sixth in the 60-meter dash (8.13 seconds), ninth in the 200 (27.26) and ninth in the 400 (1:02.24). Bakare finished second and was named All-Conference in the 60-meter dash last season.
First year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) owns the conference's No. 2 mark in the 800, clocking a 2:17.54 at the Boston University Devid Hemery Valentine Invitational two weeks ago. She also has the No. 3 time in the 400 (1:00.50) and the No. 9 time in the mile (5:32.03).
Goucher also has the No. 4 time in the conference in both the 4x200 (1:53.71) and 4x400 (4:19.90) relays.
The Goucher men will have Deonte Lewis (Fort Washington, Md./Crossland), Joshua Stevenson (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale), Trey Symonanis (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) and Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) in action.
