Thornton-Fillyaw Breaks 800 Record Again, Awaits Word on Nationals Berth
MEDFORD, Mass. - First year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) of the Goucher College women's indoor track and field team bettered her own program record in the 800 meter run at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday. She ran a time of 2:15.07 to place third in the event.
Thornton-Fillyaw broke her own program record of 2:16.77 set at last week's Landmark Conference Championships, in which she was victorious. Her converted time of 2:13.53 currently ranks No. 25 nationally. The top 20 declared entries will qualify for next week's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama. Selections for the championship will be announced on Sunday evening.
Thornton-Fillyaw's time is also the fourth-fastest time in Landmark Conference history.
