Hinton-Ayodele, Thornton-Fillyaw Named USTFCCCA All-Region
NEW ORLEANS - Goucher College women's indoor track and field athletes Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) were each named USTFCCCA All-Region on Tuesday afternoon.
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
Hinton-Ayodele earned All-Region accolades in the triple jump. He had the Mid-Atlantic Region's No. 5 triple jump mark this season, recording a jump of 11.39 meters in January at the LVC Invitational. It marks the second time Hinton-Ayodele has earned All-Region in the triple jump.
Thornton-Fillyaw finished the indoor season with the top time in the region in the 800 meters, posting a converted time of 2:13.53 last weekend at the Tufts National Qualifying Meet. With that mark, Thornton-Fillyaw qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship and competes on Friday in Birmingham, Alabama.
