Gophers Win Three Events at Blue and Gold Classic
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's track and field team earned a total of three first place finishes as it hosted the Blue and Gold Classic at Gopher Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
First year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) won a pair of events on the day. She took home first in both the 800 (2:32.45) and in the 1500 (5:01.43).
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) placed first in the high jump with a mark of 1.48 meters. Cheney also finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters.
Sarah Roth (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 10.16 meters, while coming in sixth in the hammer throw (34.24 meters). Ava Cox (Elkton, Md./Elkton) was fourth in the javelin with an 18.66 meter throw.
Gabby DeLine (Howell, Mich./Brighton) came in sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.08 seconds.
For the Gopher men, Deonte Lewis (Fort Washington, Md./Crossland) was fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.50 seconds.
Goucher is back in action Wednesday, April 5 at the York Twilight Meet.
