FAIRFAX, Va. - Goucher College women's track and field first year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) keeps rewriting the Gopher record books. Saturday night, competing at the George Mason Dalton Ebanks Invitational, Thornton-Fillyaw set the program 800-meter record with a time of 2:17.87 to finish 21st in a field of 56 runners in a field that featured just four non-Division I athletes.
Thornton-Fillyaw broke the record of 2:22.10 set by Rachel Boss on April 21, 2007.
During the Gophers' indoor season, Thornton-Fillyaw set program records in the 600, 800 and 1000. She was the Landmark Conference indoor champion in the 800 and qualified for NCAA indoor nationals.
