Gophers Compete at Mid-Atlantic Juco Invitational
COLUMBIA, Md. - The Goucher College outdoor track and field teams competed at the Howard Community College Mid-Atlantic Juco Invitational on Saturday.
The Goucher women's team posted three first-place finishes in field events on Saturday.
Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point) took home first in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.11 meters. Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) posted a triple jump mark of 10.09 meters to take first in that event. Jordan Dumas (Elkridge, Md./Oakland Mills) was second in the triple jump, checking in at 9.51 meters.
Sarah Roth (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) was first in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.10 meters. Lydia Bailey (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) took home second in the javeline throw with a throw of 22.16 meters.
The women's 4x100 relay team consisting of Gabriel, Cheney, Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) and Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) finished first with a time of 51.07 seconds.
Gabriel also finished second in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 13.56 seconds.
For the men, Joshua Stevenson (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) finished second in the 100 meter dash finals with a time of 11.27 seconds.
Mark Martin finished second in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.41 meters.
Goucher returns to action next Saturday, April 22 at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational hosted at Johns Hopkins.
