Track Competes at Hopkins/Loyola Invitational
BALTIMORE - The Goucher College outdoor track and field teams competed at the Johns Hopkins/Loyola Invitational at the Hopkins/Loyola Track Complex on Saturday.
The women's throwing squad established four personal bests and a pair of season bests on Saturday. In the discus, the Gophers had three personal bests, with Sarah Roth (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) recording a toss of 25.29 meters. Ava Cox (Elkton, Md./Elkton) had a throw of 25.27 meters, while Lydia Bailey (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) had a personal best 20.51 meter throw. Kya Taylor (Dinwiddie, Va./Dinwiddie County) had a throw of 20.56 meters.
In the javelin, Bailey had a season-best throw of 24.56 meters. Roth established a new personal best with a toss of 22.78 meters. Taylor had a season-best throw in the shot put (9.83), while Roth had a 10.21-meter toss.
In the women's 100 Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) ran a time of 13.12 seconds, while Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) ran a personal-best 13.21.
For the men, Mark Martin ran a 54.65 in the 400 and also posted a mark of 5.86 meters in the long jump.
Goucher has its final outing before the Landmark Conference Championship next Saturday when it competes in the Blue Jay Tune-Up at Elizabethtown.
