Gophers Set to Compete at Landmark Outdoor Track and Field Championships This Weekend

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College outdoor track and field teams are set to compete at the 2023 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend (May 6-7). The 2023 championships are being hosted by Moravian University at Timothy Briedegam Track in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Tickets for each day are $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 10-17 and seniors (62+), with Landmark faculty/staff and students with school ID free. All ticket sales are digital only and can be purchased here.
The Gopher women enter the weekend with a total of 12 top-10 marks in the conference. Sophomore Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie), the defending outdoor conference champion in the women's triple jump, owns the current No. 2 mark in that event (11.39 meters) as well as the No. 7 long jump mark (5.00 meters). Hinton-Ayodele placed second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump at the 2023 Landmark indoor championship in February.
Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center), the 2023 Landmark indoor Rookie of the Year and women's 800 champion, currently has the No. 2 outdoor 800 time in the conference (2:17.84) and the No. 6 time in the 400 (59.96). She also sits eighth in the 1500 with a time of 4:54.44.
Tahira Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) enters the weekend with the No. 7 time in the 100-meter dash (12.85 seconds). The women's 4x100 relay sits fourth with a time of 51.07 seconds set with Bakare, Hinton-Ayodele, Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) and Dorian Cheney (Bryans Road, Md./North Point).
Cheney owns the conference's sixth-best long jump mark (5.12 meters), while Jordan Dumas (Elkridge, Md./Oakland Mills) sits fourth in the triple jump at 10.80 meters. Gabriel has the sixth-best mark in the conference at 10.69 meters.
Sarah Roth (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Jackson) sits seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.10 meters.
For the men, Mark Martin (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) has the No. 3 mark in the triple jump (13.44 meters) and the No. 8 mark in the long jump (6.35 meters). The men's 4x400 consisting of Martin, Deonte Lewis (Fort Washington, Md./Crossland), Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) and Joshua Stevenson (Hyattsville, Md./Parkdale) has the fourth-best time in the Landmark (3:32.63).
