Hinton-Ayodele, Thornton-Fillyaw Qualify for NCAA Outdoor Nationals
NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS ACCEPTED ENTRIES | EVENT SCHEDULE
INDIANAPOLIS - Sophomore Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and first year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) of the Goucher College women's track and field team have each qualified for next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rochester, N.Y. Hinton-Ayodele qualified in the triple jump, while Thornton-Fillyaw earned her bid in the 800 meter run.
The 2023 championships are set for May 25-27 in Rochester, N.Y. at St. John Fisher College.
Hinton-Ayodele qualified with a season-best mark in the triple jump of 11.90 meters set last Friday at the ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Goucher. Hinton-Ayodele qualifies for nationals for the third time in his career, as he qualified for both indoor and outdoor nationals as a first year in 2022, taking 10th place at the 2022 indoor championships.
Thornton-Fillyaw qualified after winning the 800 meter at the Landmark Conference Championships with a school-record time of 2:12.23. She also qualified for and competed at indoor nationals earlier this season asfter winning the Landmark indoor 800 title as well.
The women's 800 prelims are set for Friday at 6:45 pm, with the final slated for Saturday at 3 pm. The women's triple jump competition is slated for 10 am on Saturday.
