Gophers Kick Off Outdoor Season at Towson Spring Opener
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College outdoor track and field teams opened the season on Saturday at the Towson Spring Opener at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University. The meet featured athletes from 22 different schools across all NCAA divisions.
The men's 4x100 relay consisting of Deonte Lewis, Syncere Lewis, Ginigeme Anyaoha and KeMarco Monger finished fifth with a time of 44.79 seconds. Deonte Lewis finished 20th out of 64 entrants in the men's 100 meter dash with an 11.39-second effort.
Monger finished 15th out of 79 competitors in the men's 200, clocking a time of 22.83 seconds. In the men's 400, Pani Marousis took fifth out of 39 runners with a time of 51.31 seconds.
Jair Smith came home 13th in the men's 800 out of 37, finishing in 2:07.35. Aidan Kress was 16th, posting a time of 2:08.38.
Jaylin Briston was second in the men's high jump with a 1.83-meter jump. Kress was third, recording a 1.75 meter leap. Kress was also fourth in the pole vault with a PR of 2.80 meters.
In the women's 100, Nora Neall recorded a time of 13.72 seconds. Skye Washington ran a personal-best 2:44.30 in the women's 800.
Lydia Bailey recorded personal bests in the women's discus (24.15) and javelin (24.46).
Goucher returns to action on Friday, March 29, competing in the 2024 Towson Invitational.
