Mark Martin Sets Men's Long Jump Record at York Twilight Meet
YORK, Pa. - The Goucher College men and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the York (Pa.) Twilight Meet on Wednesday evening at Graham Field.
Mark Martin and Jaylin Briston finished 1-2 in the men's long jump. Martin jumped a school-record 6.89 meters, while Briston also broke the previous school record with a 6.85 meter jump. The previous school record of 6.82 meters was set by Ryan Floyd in 2017.
The men's 4x100 relay place second overall with a time of 43.71 seconds. The relay consisted of Deonte Lewis, Briston, AJ Landy and KeMarco Monger.
Monger placed fifth in the 400 with a time of 51.11 seconds, while in the 200 he ran a time of 23.31 to take eighth overall. Briston checked in in 10th in the 100-meter dash, clocking an 11.51.
Emmanuel Olarewju placed fifth in the men's 400 hurdles with a 59.22-second effort. Aidan Kress came in 10th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.22 seconds.
Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw came in fifth in the women's 400 with a time of 59.77 seconds. In the women's 100 meter hurdles Aaliyah Briddell came in seventh with a 16.76-second mark.
The women's 4x100 relay placed sixth, clocking a time of 54.12 seconds. Comprising the relay were Nora Neall, Thornton-Fillyaw, Briddell and Ray Asiedu.
Goucher is back in action on Friday at the Towson Invitational.
