Men's 4x400 Sets Program Record at Towson
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's 4x400 relay team set a program record as the men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Towson Invitational at Johnny Unitas Stadium on Friday.
The men's 4x400 placed fourth with a time of 3:27.57, breaking the record of 3:27.99 set at last season's Landmark Conference Championships. The relay was made up of KeMarco Monger, Pani Marousis, Emmanuel Olarewju and Sean Whitfield.
In the women's 1500, Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw placed first with a time of 4:50.97. Lydia Bailey finished 10th in the women's javelin with a throw of 24.83 meters.
Ray Asiedu was 18th in a field of 68 in the women's 100-meter dash with a run of 12.61 seconds. Asiedu placed first among Division III runners and the mark is currently No. 41 in Division III. Asiedu was also tops among DIII runners in the 200, clocking a time of 25.96 seconds to place 15th overall.
After setting the school record (6.89 meters) in the men's long jump Wednesday, Mark Martin placed fifth on Friday with a leap of 6.51 meters. His jump on Wednesday is currently good for No. 11 nationally.
Jaylin Briston finished 18th overall out of 51 and No. 5 among Division III athletes in the men's 100 meter dash, clocking a time of 11.21 seconds. Olarewju was ninth in the men's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.98 seconds.
Monger was No. 15 out of 59 in the men's 200 with a time of 22.57 seconds and No. 2 among Division III runners. Aidan Kress was eighth in the men's 400 hurdles with a mark of 1:00.09. Manousis checked in ninth in the men's 800 with a time of 2:02.53.
The men's 4x100 was fifth with a time of 43.33 seconds. That relay consisted of Deonte Lewis, Briston, Landy and Monger.
Goucher is slated to have athletes at both the Ursinus Outdoor Invitational and the Dalton Ebanks Invitational at George Mason next weekend.
