Gophers Compete at Bison Classic Saturday
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Goucher College men and women's track and field teams competed at the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet University at Thomas O. Berg Track.
First year Emmanuel Olarewju took first place in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.88 seconds. Olarewju also qualified for the 110 hurdles final with a time of 16.11 seconds in the preliminaries.
Deonte Lewis qualified for the men's 100-meter dash final with an 11.31 second effort. In the final he placed seventh with an 11.32-second run.
Aaliyah Briddell qualified for the women's 100-meter hurdle final, running a prelim time of 16.63 seconds. Briddell also took second in the women's triple jump with a mark of 9.15 meters.
Ray Asiedu took eighth in the women's 200 with a 26.59-second run. In the women's 100 prelims Asiedu took 10th, clocking in at 12.73 seconds. KeMarco Monger took 10th in the men's 200 at 23.21 seconds.
Jair Smith finished third in the men's 5000 with a 17:32.83 effort. Daya Sathyaraj was second in the women's 5K with a time of 20:28.53. Sam Dylan was fifth in the men's 10K with a time of 40:55.05.
Jaylin Briston came in third in the men's long jump with a 6.44-meter leap. In the men's triple jump, Mark Martin slotted fourth at 12.60 meters.
In the women's hammer throw, Lydia Bailey had a throw of 31.23 meters to place fourth.
The men's 4x100 relay clocked in at 43.49 seconds, consisting of AJ Landy, Martin, Lewis and Briston. The women's 4x400 relay made up of Tamryn Thornton-Fillyaw, Imaya Edmonds, Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw and Asiedu checked in with a time of 4:22.44 to place first.
Aidan Kress was No. 5 in the men's pole vault at 2.50 meters.
