No. 24 Cardinals Cruise Past Gophers

WASHINGTON, D.C. - 24th-ranked Catholic University won its third straight and 11th game in 12 tries as it eased past Goucher College for a 75-29 Landmark Conference women's basketball victory Wednesday night at Franny Murray Court.
- A Kyani Quarles (Houston, Texas/Cristo Rey Jesuit) basket for Goucher (1-18, 0-11 Landmark) tied the game 2-2 at the 8:20 mark.
- Catholic (18-2, 9-2) scored the next 12 points before a layup by Alayna McFadden (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) with 3:43 left in the quarter.
- Sydney Nwuli (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) had the final two baskets for the Gophers in the quarter as they trailed 20-8 after 10 minutes.
- The Cardinals scored the first 10 points of the quarter before a Nwuli basket at 7:43.
- A Julia Cavoli (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) three 20 seconds later made it a 30-13 game.
- After a McFadden basket 2:42 before intermission, Catholic held the Gophers scoreless the rest of the half and led 42-17 at the break.
- McFadden matched Catholic's first basket of the second half with a layup just over two minutes in.
- The Cardinals outscored Goucher 22-4 in the third.
- Catholic had the first five points of the fourth before a McFadden three at 8:01.
- McFadden also had the final basket of the game, a layup with seven seconds left.
- McFadden finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, reaching double figures for the sixth time in seven games.
- Nwuli recorded a season-best six points. She also grabbed 10 rebounds.
- Catholic shot 48.3% overall, was 8-17 from long range and 11-12 at the free throw line. It also held a 43-34 rebound advantage.
- Goucher went 2-17 behind the arc and shot 22% overall.

- Goucher returns home on Saturday, February 12, hosting Susquehanna in a 4 pm Landmark Conference contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center. Spectator attendance is currently limited to Goucher faculty, staff and students.
