SCRANTON, Pa. - The sixth-ranked University of Scranton women's basketball team remained unbeaten with a 98-31 win over Goucher College at the John Long Center Saturday afternoon in Landmark Conference play.
The Royals (9-0, 4-0 Landmark) held a 26-5 lead after one quarter and were up 61-9 at intermission. Goucher (0-9, 0-4) outscored the Royals 17-16 in the fourth quarter.
Briyah Haggins led the Gophers with 12 points, making four of her 10 field goal attempts. Maiya Villanueva and Darby Sherman finished with six points apiece for the Gophers.
Scranton shot 52.6% from the floor and was 10-22 from long range, while the Gophers were 11-55 from the floor. Goucher finished 8-23 behind the arc.
Goucher returns to play next Saturday, December 16, traveling to Alvernia University for a 1 pm contest. The next Gopher home game is Wednesday, January 3 when Goucher welcomes Wilkes University for a 4 pm Landmark Conference contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
