Gazzola, Nase Score in Defeat at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Julia Gazzola (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) registered three goals, while Mackenzie Nase (Weare, N.H./John Stark) scored her first goal of the season for the Goucher College women's lacrosse team, but the Gophers were defeated by DeSales University 19-4 Friday evening at Turf Stadium.
- Goucher (1-5) won the opening draw and Gazzola gave the Gophers a 1-0 lead 1:02 into the game. Emily Flinn (Ashland, Va,./Patrick Henry) assisted on the goal.
- DeSales (3-2) reeled off four straight goals to lead 4-1 just shy of midway.
- Gazzola pulled the guests within two with her second goal of the game with 3:08 left in the quarter.
- The Bulldogs scored their final goal of the frame with 2:30 to go and led 5-2 through 15 minutes.
- After DeSales scored the first two goals of the quarter, Nase scored on a feed from Emily Burk (Nottingham, Md./Perry Hall) 10:29 before halftime.
- The hosts scored the next three goals to lead 10-3 with 3:24 to go.
- Gazzola scored again with 1:32 left to make it 10-4. Burk added her second assist of the contest.
- DeSales carried their six-goal advantage into halftime.
- DeSales scored all six goals of the third quarter, outshooting the Gophers 11-3.

- Belle Christ (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) had nine saves in the first three quarters. Sydney Lewis (Baltimore, Md./Carver) made one save in the fourth.
- Gazzola has scored in 13 straight games and has recorded multiple goals in all but one game this season. Her 25 goals currently lead the Landmark Conference.
- Goucher returns home on Wednesday, March 16, as it hosts Hood in a 4 pm contest at Beldon Field.
