River Hawks All Over Gophers Early Saturday

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Susquehanna University jumped out to an 8-1 lead and didn't look back as it recorded a 19-5 Landmark Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Goucher College Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Susquehanna (8-4, 1-1 Landmark) got on the board on a goal by Kelsey Homberg just over a minute into the game.
- Goucher (2-9, 0-2) tied the game 35 seconds later as Molly Smith (Damascus, Md./Damascus) converted a free position opportunity.
- The River Hawks retook the lead with 12:21 on the clock.
- SU scored six times in the final 4:53 of the first and an Allie Kutler tally with four seconds left made it 8-1 after 15 minutes.
- Caroline Chase opened the scoring for the River Hawks just over two minutes into the second.
- Susquehanna added three goals in a span of just over four minutes to build a 12-2 lead at the 5:14 mark that it took into halftime.
- Susquehanna scored two goals in a span of 1:25 to increase its lead to 14-1 with 11:07 left in the third.
- The Gophers reeled off three straight goals, with Julia Gazzola (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) scoring on a feed from Emily Flinn (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) at the 9:08 mark.
- Five minutes later, Flinn converted a free position in a man-up situation for Goucher.
- Elizabeth Green (Easton, Pa./Lehigh Valley Charter for the Arts) converted a free position with 2:17 to go in the frame.
- The River Hawks led 15-4 entering the fourth.
- Susquehanna scored the first three goals of the fourth.
- Gazzola notched her second goal of the game with 4:13 remaining.
- Susquehanna outshot Goucher 34-12 on the day.
- The Gophers won 15 of the game's 27 draw controls, with Lia Oren (Milwaukee, Wisc./Nicolet) winning 10.
- Gazzola scored twice to extend her goal scoring streak to 19 games dating back to 2019.
- Flinn added a goal and an assist and moved to 97 points for her career.
