Balanced Drew Attack Moves Rangers Past Gophers

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Drew University got goals from 10 different players as it eased past Goucher College for a 20-4 Landmark Conference women's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Drew (10-5, 3-3 Landmark) scored just over a minute into the game.
- The Rangers reeled off the game's first five goals.
- The Gophers (2-13, 0-5) got on the board when Lia Oren (Milwaukee, Wisc./Nicolet) scored on a feed from Elizabeth Green (Easton, Pa./Lehigh Valley Charter for the Arts) with 6:12 left in the quarter.
- The hosts took a 6-1 advantage into the second quarter.
- Drew scored off the opening draw 14 seconds in and scored three goals in the first 2:15 of the period.
- The Rangers scored all eight goals in the quarter and led 14-1 at intermission.
- The guests scored on four of the five shots they took in the third quarter.
- Drew scored just over a minute in and added goals at 11:13, 6:22 and 4:54.
- Drew tacked on two more goals with 9:59 and 8:06 on the clock.
- Green scored with 5:08 remaining, with Delany Comerford (Garden City, N.Y.)/Garden City) assisting on the goal.
- Julia Gazzola (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) scored with 3:19 left on an assist by Emily Flinn (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry).
- Comerford added her second assist of the game on a goal by Flinn with 2:06 to go.
- Drew outshot Goucher 36-6 and had 18 of the game's 27 draw controls.
- Belle Christ (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) played the first half in goal and made eight saves before Sydney Lewis (Baltimore, Md./Carver) made four saves in the second half.
- Comerford's two assists were the first two of the season for the senior defender, who entered the game with one career assist.
- Oren finished with six of Goucher's nine draw controls, while Gazzola had two.
- Goucher closes out the season next Saturday, April 30, when it hosts Elizabethtown in a 1 pm Landmark Conference game at Beldon Field.
- The Gophers will hold Senior Day ceremonies before the contest.
