Blue Jays Rally Past Gophers in Fourth on Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College held a 9-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but visiting Elizabethtown College rallied past the Gophers en route to a 16-11 Landmark Conference women's lacrosse victory on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Beldon Field.
- Etown (3-13, 1-6 Landmark) struck first just over three minutes in on a Kate Ziegler tally.
- The Gophers (2-14, 0-7) answered with just under six minutes in the opening frame on a goal by Mackenzie Nase (Weare, N.H./John Stark Regional).
- The Blue Jays scored twice in a 35-second span to go up 4-2 at the 4:56 mark.
- Julia Gazzola (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) converted a free position for Goucher to halve the Etown lead with 2:07 left in the first.
- Elizabeth Green (Easton, Pa./Lehigh Valley Charter for the Arts) tied the game for Goucher 1:26 into the second quarter.
- Elizabethtown reeled off four straight goals to build a 7-3 lead with 5:00 left before halftime.
- Green halted the Blue Jay run with her second goal of the quarter with 1:24 left, with Nase assisting.
- The guests carried a 7-4 lead into the break.
- Emily Flinn (Ashburn, Va./Patrick Henry) scored 37 seconds into the second half to make it 7-4, with Green assisting.
- Minami Ushijima (Nishinomiya, Japan / Keimei Gakuin) scored her fourth goal of the season at 11:12, with Nase assisting.
- Just over two minutes later, an unasssited tally by Nase tied the game 7-7.
- After Etown retook the lead with 7:11 on the clock, goals by Emily Burk (Nottingham, Md./Perry Hall) at 3:11 and Green with 16 seconds left in the quarter gave Goucher its first lead, 9-8.
- Etown scored the first three goals of the fourth to take an 11-9 lead 4:10 into the final frame.
- Burk scored her second goal of the game with 10 minutes to go on an assist by Gazzola to make it 11-10.
- 37 seconds later, Flinn tied the game, with Burk assisting.
- The Blue Jays reeled off five goals in a span of 5:08 to take control with a 16-11 lead with 3:30 left, with Ziegler scoring twice including the 200th goal of her career.
- Etown outshot the Gophers 43-22, with Sydney Lewis (Baltimore, Md./Carver) making a season-best 19 saves.
- Green led Goucher with three goals and an assist, while Nase recorded two goals and two assists.
- Burk notched two goals and an assit, while Flinn registered two goals. Gazzola finished with a goal and an assist.
- Lia Oren (Milwaukee, Wisc./Nicolet) had a pair of caused turnovers and seven draw controls. She finished the season with 87 draw controls, the second-highest total in a single season in program history behind Gazzola's 96 in 2019.
