FREDERICK, Md. - Host Hood College got goals from nine different players as it cruised to a 14-1 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Goucher College Wednesday evening at Thomas Athletic Field.
The Blazers (2-1) got their first goal just 1:27 into the game and held a 5-0 lead after one quarter. The Blazers led 10-0 at halftime and 14-0 through three quarters.
Goucher (0-4) got on the board with 4:05 left as Bella McKinney (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) scored her first collegiate goal, with Katherine Luetgens (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo) assisting on the tally.
Hood held a 26-10 shot advantage. Goucher starting goalie Belle Christ (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made four saves in the first half, while Sydney Lewis (Baltimore, Md./Carver) made three saves over the final 30 minutes.
McKinney also recorded three draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers. Luetgens and Molly Smith (Damascus, Md./Damascus) each had two draw controls. Luetgens also had two caused turnovers. Amaya Locke (Bowie, Md./Bowie) recorded three ground balls along with Lewis, while Christ picked up four.
Goucher is back in action Saturday, traveling to Muhlenberg for a 1 pm contest. The Gophers return home Wednesday, March 8, hosting Trinity Washington at 7 pm at Beldon Field.
