Four Score for Gophers at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Four different players scored for the Goucher College women's lacrosse team, but the Gophers fell on the road at Muhlenberg College 18-4 Saturday afternoon at Scotty Wood Stadium.
- Goucher (0-5) took a 1-0 lead just 12 seconds into the game on a goal by Katherine Luetgens (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo).
- Muhlenberg (3-0) tied the game 13 seconds later.
- The Mules reeled off 11 straight goals to build an 11-1 lead after one quarter.
- Muhlenberg added goals at 14:00 and 5:13 to extend its lead to 13-1.
- The Gophers broke their scoring drought with just under a minute to go in the half as Amelia Lazzini (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) scored on a feed from Lucy Covington (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown).
- The assist was Covington's first career point.
- The Mules converted a free position 1:38 into the second half.
- Bella McKinney (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) scored for the second straight game with 3:27 left in the third, with Lazzini assisting.
- Muhlenberg scored again with just under two minutes to go to make it 15-3.
- After a Muhlenberg goal 2:35 into the fourth, Molly Smith (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored with 10:52 remaining, with Lazzini recording her second assist.
- The Mules added a pair of goals in the final 7:33.
- Muhlenberg held a 38-7 shot advantage and won 18 of the game's 25 draws.
- Lazzini's three points matched her career high.
- Sydney Lewis (Baltimore, Md./Carver) started in goal and made nine saves in the opening 30 minutes before giving way to Belle Christ (Randolph, N.J./Randolph), who recorded five stops in the second half.
- Luetgens had a pair of caused turnovers and four draw controls, while Lazzini had a pair of draws.
- Covington led the Gophers with four ground balls.
- Goucher is back home on Wednesday night, hosting Trinity Washington in a 7 pm contest at Beldon Field.
