Strong First Half Propels Eagles Over Goucher

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Juniata College jumped out to a 6-3 lead after one quarter as it defeated Goucher College 18-3 in Landmark Conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Goucher took a 1-0 lead just a minute into the game as Bella McKinney (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) broke the ice 42 seconds into the game.
- Juniata rattled off five straight as Peyton Goodrich lead the way for the Eagles.
- Goucher got two more goals from Amaya Locke (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Molly Smith (Damascus, Md./Damascus) to end the quarter.
- The Eagles held the Gophers scoreless in the second quarter as they jumped to a 13-3 lead at half.
- Five different players scored for the Eagles, Kellianne Drummond had two and Grace Gibbs had three respectivley in the quarter.
- Gibbs halftime scoreline was five goals.
- The third quarter was slow as only Peyton Goodrich scored 5:36 into the second half.
- Katherine Luetgens (El Segundo, Calif./El Segundo) broke Goucher's scoring drought with a goal with 7:52 left, with McKinney assisting.
- Katie Kebrich (Towson, Md./Towson) scored Goucher's last two goals at 4:15 and with 22 seconds remaining.
- Juniata held a 43-11 shot advantage on the afternoon.
- Chloe Gerhard paced the Eagles with six saves, while Caoilinn Heatley came in for the fourth quarter and made three saves
- Sydney Lewis (Baltimore, Md./Carver) made 10 saves on 23 shots for the first half. While senior captain Belle Christ (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) made five saves on 10 shots to limit the Eagles in the second half.
- McKinney had a pair of caused turnovers for the Gophers and also recorded a pair of ground balls.
- Kebrich recorded multiple goals for the fifth straight game.
- Goucher returns to action on Friday when it travels to Drew for a 7 pm contest.
- The Gophers will return home on April 12th as they host Catholic for a 5pm contest at Beldon Field
