TOWSON, Md. - While Goucher wasn't able to convert any of its 11 shots into goals today, Randolph-Macon got off 18 shots and four of them produced goals as the Yellow Jackets departed Beldon Field with a 4-0 victory over the Gophers (1-2).
Midway through the first half, the Yellow Jackets (2-0) went ahead 1-0 thanks to a goal by Kendall Kirtley. They struck for two more goals - one by Brittany Jones at 34:16 and the other by Jen Baird at 41:25 - to expand their lead to 3-0 at the end of the first half.
The only goal of the second half was scored at 56:55 by Lacy Phelps.
Dee Moser (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) and Sisley Pumilia (Chesterfield, NH/Keene) combined to account for nine of Goucher's 11 shots. Kellen Matthews (Northboro, MA/Algonquin Regional) went the distanct in goal for the Gophers and was credited with 10 saves.
