WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sisley Pumilia (Chesterfield, NH/Keene) contributed three goals and picked up an assist on a goal by Ali Philippides (West Simsbury, CT/Kingswood-Oxford) today as Goucher was cruising to an 8-0 triumph over Trinity (D.C.).
The Gophers (3-3) already led 2-0 thanks to goals by Bri Girard (Seymour, CT/Seymour) at 4:30 and Erin McDowell (Severn, MD/Old Mill) at 9:11 when Pumilia tallied the first of her three goals at 14:15. In between Pumilia's first and second goals, Elizabeth Hoffman (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Calvert) supplied Goucher with an unassisted goal that made the score 4-0; in between the freshman midfielder's second and third goals, Dee Moser (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) turned a feed from McDowell into a goal that put her team comfortably ahead 6-0.
Pumilia completed her "hat trick" at 31:10. She and Moser now share the team lead in goals with five apiece.
Pumilia was awarded an assist on Philippides' goal at 62:00, which turned out to be the only goal of the second half.
In getting back to .500, the Gophers out-shot the Tigers (0-4-1), 32-6.
