TOWSON, Md. – Sisley Pumilia (Spofford,
N.H./Keene) became only the third player in the history of
Goucher's women's soccer program to surpass 30 goals in her career
with the first of the two goals she scored tonight in the Gophers'
3-1 triumph over Gallaudet.
Pumilia's first goal at 30:08 was the 31st of her career and provided the Gophers (3-6) with a 1-0 lead. The advantage became two goals when the junior forward scored again at 37:06 and creeped within two goals of Allison Healy (1998-2000), who currently is the second-leading all-time scorer in the history of Goucher's women's soccer program.
The two teams traded goals within a span of 2:04 in the second half: an unassisted goal by Kristen Gartside (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) put Goucher up 3-0 at 52:05, but the Bison (3-5-1) avoided being shut out when Shaquana McDonough converted a penalty kick at 54:09.
The Gophers unleased a season-high total of 39 shots in the victory and held Gallaudet to 11 attempts.
Due to an injury to starter Kellen Matthews (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional), freshman goalkeeper Regan Foy (Crofton, Md./The Key School) entered in the 10th minute and defended the Goucher goal for the remainder of the game. In her collegiate debut, Foy made five saves and allowed only one goal in 80:23.
