Goucher Lands Two Juniors on All-Landmark Team
MADISON, N.Y. Kellen Matthews (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional), who has been Goucher's starting goalkeeper in every game the past three seasons, and Sisley Pumilia (Spofford, N.H./Keene), one of the all-time leading scorers in the history of the school's women's soccer program, are both second-team selections on the 2009 All-Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Team.
Repeat Appearance for Pumilia, First-Time Selection for Matthews
MADISON, N.Y. — Kellen Matthews (Northboro,
Mass./Algonquin Regional), who has been Goucher's starting
goalkeeper in every game the past three seasons, and Sisley
Pumilia (Spofford, N.H./Keene), one of the all-time
leading scorers in the history of the school's women's soccer
program, are both second-team selections on the 2009 All-Landmark
Conference Women's Soccer Team.
The team was released in its entirety today and is made up of 24
student-athletes who were chosen through balloting by the
conference's seven head coaches. The selections were made by
position and 12 players were placed on the All-Landmark first team
and the remaining 12 on the second team.
Matthews appeared in 17 games in 2009 as a junior and made 154
saves. She finished with a 1.87 goals against average.
With an 11-save performance against Stevenson on October 27,
Matthews became Goucher's all-time leader in saves. Her career
total heading into her final season of eligibility stands at
459.
Pumilia, a second-team forward on last year's All-Landmark Women's
Soccer Team, supplied the Gophers with three goals and an assist in
2009. The junior midfielder owns the school record for goals in a
season (23), is co-holder of the school record for goals in a game
(5) and ranks third all-time in career goals (32) at Goucher.
