Pumilia's 39th Career Goal Snaps 1-1 Tie in 84th Minute
TOWSON, Md. — Shay Kettner (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) had a hand in both of Goucher's goals as the Gophers rallied for a 2-1 non-conference victory over Marymount tonight on Beldon Field.
The Saints (4-11) got on the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Paige Pierson at 67:15. Kettner managed to wipe out that advantage when she tallied her team-leading 10th goal of the season at 79:23, creating a 1-1 tie.
Kettner's chipped pass over the last line of defense for Marymount produced a goal by senior midfielder Sisley Pumilia (Spofford, N.H./Keene) at 83:48 that put head coach Tati Gophers (5-8-2) ahead 2-1 and closed out the scoring. For Pumilia, the second-leading scorer in the history of Goucher's women's soccer program, it was the 39th goal of her career.
Starting with her two-goal performance against Juniata back on Sept. 25, Kettner has supplied the Gophers with at least one goal in eight of their 10 games. Through 15 games, the sophomore forward is the team's leading scorer with 10 goals and four assists.
The Gophers, who take a modest three-game winning streak into their final contest of the season against Scranton on Saturday, finished with a 22-13 edge in shots.
