MADISON, N.J. — For her three-goal performance last week, Goucher's Sherlanda Buskey (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) was recognized today by the Landmark Conference as the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 5-11.
The freshman forward supplied the Gophers with their first goal, tying the score at 1-1, late in the first half of a game against Lancaster Bible. She put her team up 1-0 with a goal exactly 11 minutes into the second half of a game against Washington (Md.) before adding a second goal in the 79th minute that expanded the lead to 3-0.
"Sherlanda had a great week for us," according to Tati Korba, head coach of Goucher's women's soccer program. "She has made a big impact early on our program and has adapted quickly to our style of play. Her versatility as a forward gives us a lot of options in the offensive third of the field."
With five goals through three games, Buskey is the leading scorer in the Landmark Conference.
