DOVER, Del. — Just when it looked like neither Goucher nor Wesley was going to be able to snap a scoreless tie during regulation, the Wolverines managed to sneak in a goal with just over five minutes left to play this evening to come away with a 1-0 victory over head coach Tati Korba's Gophers.
Regan Foy (Crofton, Md./The Key School), who went the distance in goal for Goucher, had just made her fifth save of the contest on a shot by Lacey Smith when the ball bounced back to Meghan Aiello, who knocked it in past Foy at 84:49.
Over what time remained, the Gophers (2-2) were able to get off one more shot, raising their total for the game to 12. The attempt by Sam Schlosburg (North Potomac, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) was on goal, but was turned away by Sydney Kahan, Foy's counterpart in goal. Kahan finished with seven saves to earn the shutout for the Wolverines (5-1).
