TOWSON, Md. — An own goal in the 38th minute put Goucher in a 1-0 hole against Widener and then the Gophers surrendered another goal in the second half as the Pride departed Beldon Field today with a 2-0 victory.
Regan Foy (Crofton, Md./The Key School) was in goal for Goucher and made four saves in the opening 45 minutes, but the own goal at 37:28 allowed Widener to walk off the field at the break ahead 1-0.
The Pride (5-4-1), who finished with 10 shots, added to their lead when Jenna Pedrick set up a goal by Alyssa Scala at 75:37.
After being limited to one shot in the first half, the Gophers (5-4) were able to get off eight shots in the second period and forced goalkeeper Vanessa Hejnas of the Pride to make a pair of saves to earn the shutout.
