Gophers, Spartans Keep Each Other Off Scoreboard
YORK, Pa. — Goucher limited its first 10 opponents this season to a combined total of five goals and York has been even stingier, giving up just one goal through nine games. So when the two teams clashed today for the first time since 2006 when both schools belonged to the Capital Athletic Conference, it was a pretty safe bet that it would be a low-scoring affair.

Or a no-scoring affair.
Even though the Spartans held a huge advantage in shots, 42-7, the two teams remained scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation and a pair of 10-minute overtime periods so it goes into the books as a 0-0 draw.
Freshman Juliana Harkavy (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway), making her third straight start in goal for the Gophers, finished with 16 saves. She turned away six shots in the first half and another eight in the second half before making two saves in the second OT to keep her goals-against average for the season at 0.00.
Melanie Glessner went the distance in goal for York and the only three saves she had to make to earn her sixth shutout of the season were on a shot by Sherlanda Buskey (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) in the final minute of the first half and attempts by Gaby Davis (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia) in the second half and Katherine Matthew-Parker (New Orleans, La./St. Martin's Episcopal) in the second OT.
The Spartans (5-1-4), who have been involved in no fewer than four scoreless draws in 2012, were awarded 10 corner kicks, compared to two for the Gophers (9-1-1).
