Neither team seemed to hold the upper hand throughout most of the first half until Regina Zolbrod scored with 1:59 remaining in the period to put the Cardinals (6-7-1, 2-1-1 Landmark) up 1-0. Prior to Zolbrod's goal, which was assisted by Mary McGann, Catholic had a slim 7-6 advantage in shots and both starting goalkeepers had made three saves.
Catholic nursed its 1-0 lead into the 70th minute before an unassisted goal by Lauren Cadott made the score 2-0 in favor of the Cardinals.
The final goal of the contest was tallied by Ellen Jansen at 79:55.
Buoyed by a 15-4 edge over the final 45 minutes, the Cardinals finished with 23 shots, while the Gophers (11-3-1, 2-3 Landmark) were limited to 10.
Lexi Rudolph (Kensington, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) turned in a complete-game, eight-save effort in goal for Goucher. Her counterpart, Lexi Halpern, made an additional three saves in the second half for a total of six.
