Women's Soccer Blanked at Penn State Berks

With the defeat, Goucher will take a 1-3 record into its home opener Saturday against Rutgers-Camden. The Nittany Lions improved to 3-1 with the victory.
The Gophers started the match strong, holding a 6-1 advantage in shots over the first 32 minutes. Lindsey Puopolo, who led Goucher with four shots, forced the only first-half save out of Nittany Lion goalie Savannah Cramer with a 16th-minute effort.
Penn State Berks, however, dominated the rest of the match. The Nittany Lions generated the remaining five shots before the intermission, and Taylor Schwartz opened the scoring with a 43rd-minute strike past goalie Juliana Harkavy.
Goucher could not slow down the Nittany Lions in the second half, with Penn State Berks holding a 17-3 shots advantage after the break. Lizzie Mummau doubled the advantage for the Nittany Lions in the 54th minute.
Harkavy made seven saves in the second half to keep the game within reach. She finished with eight saves overall. Cramer registered three saves in her shutout performance.
The Gophers will next turn their attention to Rutgers-Camden (2-2). Saturday's match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. from Beldon Field.
