TOWSON, Md. – After four road games to begin its 2013 season, the Goucher women's soccer team finally returned to Beldon Field this afternoon. Juliana Harkavy (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway) made five saves in goal to record her second clean sheet of the season, but the Gophers could not manage a goal of their own and had to settle for a 0-0 tie with Rutgers-Camden.
The stalemate leaves Goucher with a 1-3-1 record heading into Wednesday's home matchup against Hood. The Scarlet Raptors moved to 2-3-1.
The Gophers held a 10-7 edge in shots at the end of regulation, but both teams struggled to create significant scoring opportunities. After Goucher managed the only shot in the first overtime period, Rutgers-Camden held a 5-0 advantage in the final 10 minutes, but Harkavy stood strong to register the shutout.
Goucher led 3-2 in corner kick opportunities, with all chances coming in the first 90 minutes. Lindsey Puopolo (Glen Arm, Md./St. Timothy's) led the team with four shots, while Gaby Davis (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia) added three.
The scoreless draw is the first for the Gophers this season after Goucher had a pair of 0-0 results during the 2012 campaign.
Wednesday's matchup against Hood will begin at 4 p.m. from Beldon Field.
