TOWSON, Md. — Goucher got off only two shots in the first half of today's Landmark Conference game against Juniata, but one of those turned into the second goal of the season for junior forward Lindsey Puopolo (Glen Arm, Md./St. Timothy's), creating a 1-1 deadlock between the two teams.
The tie lasted into the 68th minute when Alicia Snyder knocked a through ball from Michaela Lacek into the bottom right corner, providing the Eagles with the goal they needed to turn back head coach Tati Korba's Gophers, 2-1.
The scoring began at 7:15 when Juniata's Paula Pryor tallied her 10th goal of the season off a cross by Emily Green.
The Gophers (4-8-1, 0-2 Landmark) took their first shot midway through the first half, but goalkeeper Erin Mueller of the Eagles made her only save of the contest on the attempt by freshman midfielder Samantha Turner (Vineland, N.J./Vineland). Later in the period, however, Mueller couldn't prevent Puopolo from tapping in a long ball from the right side sent in by sophomore midfielder Jessica Leffers (Germantown, Md. / Northwest).
The assist was the second of the season for Leffers.
On their fifth shot of the second half, the Eagles (9-3, 1-1 Landmark) regained the lead on Snyder's fifth goal of the season.
Sophomore Juliana Harkavy (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway) went the distance in goal for Goucher and finished with nine saves.
