McDowell Lands on 2013 All-Landmark Second Team

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher placed one player on the 2013 All-Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Team, which was unveiled today. Caroline McDowell (Alfred, N.Y./Alfred-Almond Central), a senior who played center back for the Gophers this season, made the select squad as a second-team defender.

As announced, the All-Landmark Team includes 24 student-athletes, with at least one from each of the seven institutions in the Landmark Conference which sponsor women's soccer as an intercollegiate sport. Position-by-position voting was done by the head coaches and the balloting produced 12 first-team selections and an equal number of players on a second unit.

McDowell, who started the final 41 games of her career, earned her spot on the All-Landmark Team for her role in the eight shutouts the Gophers achieved in 2013. Opponents averaged 1.72 goals per game against Goucher this season.

"I'm so happy she was given the recognition she deserved," commented Tati Korba, who just completed her ninth season as head women's soccer coach at Goucher. "She has always had a huge presence on our backline, but this year in particular she was the anchor of our backline. In addition to what she gives us on the field, she is a tremendous leader and has done everything we've asked of her in terms of moving our program forward."

Goucher has produced at least one all-conference selection in the sport of women's soccer in each of the seven years it has been a member of the Landmark Conference.
