ROSEMONT, Pa. — Although it was her first shutout since October 29, 2013, Juliana Harkavy (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway) became the Goucher women's soccer program's all-time leader in that category tonight when the Gophers pinned a 2-0 setback on Rosemont.
The senior goalkeeper needed to make only two saves to keep the Ravens (0-3) off the scoreboard and earn the 15th shutout during her four seasons with the Gophers. She earned her first save and protected her team's one-goal lead by turning away a shot by Savannah Widdicombe in the 49th minute.
Goucher had tacked on a second goal by the time Harkavy made her second save in the 89th minute, this time on an attempt by Lindsay Wong.
Going into the game, Harkavy shared the record with Kellen Matthews (2007-10).
Stephanie Budrock (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) assisted both of Goucher's goals in the non-conference victory. The junior forward set up a goal by Theresa Antkowiak-Tassone (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) at 32:26 that provided the Gophers (2-0-1) with a 1-0 lead. She found Antkowiak-Tassone with a cross and the freshman forward finished from 10 yards out.
The recipient of Budrock's assistance in the second half was senior midfielder Gaby Davis (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia), who tallied her first goal of the season and eighth of her career at 59:47.
Through the first three games of the season, Budrock has supplied the Gophers with a pair of goals and three assists, which makes her the early leader in assists in the Landmark Conference.
Goucher outshot Rosemont, 14-6. The Gophers were awarded seven corner kicks compared to none for the Ravens (0-3).
Goucher will compete in the 2015 D.C. Women's Soccer Classic this weekend in the nation's capital. The Gophers will face Marymount at 12 noon on Saturday and Randolph at the same time following day.
