Gophers Extend Unbeaten Streak to Five Games

Bri Hite (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) put Goucher ahead 1-0 when she notched her first goal of the season at 15:48, but Sam Hablas of the WildCats answered midway through the first half with an unassisted goal, creating a 1-1 tie.
The Gophers (4-0-1) regained the lead when Lexi Solazzo (Tolland, Conn./Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts) served the ball into the box to Samantha Turner (Vineland, N.J./Vineland), who finished from five yards out at 28:31. They added an unassisted goal by Theresa Antkowiak-Tassone (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) at 40:01.
The second half wasn't even two minutes old when Goucher went up 4-1 on a goal by Stephanie Budrock (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) that was set up by Hite. The junior forward leads the Gophers in goals (4), assists (3) and points (11) and has picked up at least two points in every game so far this season.
Randolph lowered its deficit to 4-2 on an unassisted goal by Ally Ramos at 48:27 and to 4-3 when Delany Doyle stuck her first goal of the season at 63:49.
The WildCats (1-3-1) are the first team to score more than one goal against Goucher so far this season.
The Gophers, who play seven of their next eight games on Beldon Field starting with Wednesday's non-conference visit by Albright that begins at 7 p.m., finished with a 27-8 edge in shots.
Goucher placed three players on the all-tournament team: Budrock, Lexi Solazzo (Tolland, Conn./Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts) and Turner.
